In a tragic turn of events, South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron was found dead in her Seongdong-gu, Seoul home on February 16, 2025.
A friend, who had planned to meet her, discovered her body and promptly notified the authorities. Police have stated that there are no immediate signs of foul play and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
Born on July 31, 2000, Kim Sae-ron began her illustrious career at the tender age of nine. She gained international acclaim for her role in the 2009 film “A Brand New Life,” which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, making her the youngest actress to attend the prestigious event.
She further solidified her status with a compelling performance alongside Won Bin in the 2010 blockbuster “The Man from Nowhere.”
Throughout her career, Kim showcased versatility across both film and television. Notable works include “The Queen’s Classroom” (2013), “Hi! School: Love On” (2014), and “Secret Healer” (2016).
Her portrayal in “Snowy Road” earned her the Best Actress in a Foreign Film award at the Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival.
However, in May 2022, Kim’s career faced a significant setback due to a drunk driving incident in Seoul’s Gangnam District. The accident resulted in property damage and a subsequent fine of 20 million won (approximately $15,000). Following the incident, she took a hiatus from acting, stepping down from projects such as the SBS drama “Trolley.”
In 2023, Kim attempted a return to the screen with Netflix’s series “Bloodhounds.” Despite her efforts, much of her role was edited out due to the lingering controversy from the previous year.
